Autumn-Dogs (Autumn Hot Dogs With Apple Slaw)

Ingredients

  • 8 Pork and Apple sausages (I use Jolly Hog ones)
  • 8 hotdog buns
  • Butter for the buns
  • Apple Slaw:
  • 1 eating apple, chopped core removed
  • 3 – 5 large white cabbage leaves, washed and chopped
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and grated
  • 1 large red onion, sliced
  • 2 – 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soft brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp grain mustard
  • 3 tbsp mayo

Method

1. Grill or cook 8 Pork and Apple sausages until they’re fully cooked and have a nice colour.

2. While the sausages cook, split 8 hotdog buns in half and lightly butter them.

3. Prepare the Apple Slaw by chopping 1 eating apple (remove the core), washing and chopping 3-5 large white cabbage leaves, grating 1 large carrot, and slicing 1 large red onion.

4. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped apple, cabbage, grated carrot, and sliced red onion.

5. In a separate bowl, mix together 2-3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of soft brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of grain mustard, and 3 tablespoons of mayo to create the slaw dressing.

6. Pour the slaw dressing over the apple and vegetable mixture, then toss everything together until it’s well coated.

7. Once the sausages are cooked, assemble your Autumn-Dogs by placing a sausage in each bun and topping it with a generous portion of the Apple ‘Slaw. Enjoy your delicious meal!
